1 OHRISTCHURCH BRANCH. The annual meeting of the Christchurch branch of tho Women's Christian Temperance Union was held last week, Mrs T. E. Taylor presiding. The report, which was adopted, stated that the year has been one of steady work and tho membership had reached 205, with 22 honor;..;; members. Tho various activities of the organisation wero dealt with in detail. Officers were elected as follow: President, Mrs T. E. Taylor; corresponding secretary, Mrs Day; recording secretary, Miss Bishop; treasurer, Mrs Baterson; vice-presidents, Mesdames Bligh. D. Daniel and LovellSraith and Misses Henderson and Roberts ; superintendents of departments, literature, Miss I/Ovell-Smith: press work, Miss Mackay: legal and parliamentary. Miss Henderson: Social Purity, Mrs Newton and Misses Henderson and Roberts; patriotic work. Mrs Napier; good citizenship, Miss Bishop; cradle roll, Mrs Saxton, "White Ribbon."
