V A letter was read from a ratepayer complaining of tho bad of ihe drains at Ohapuku, adjoining: his- property. It was resolved that landowners having unclean drains thair property should bo given notice to clean samo. It was resolved thai tho annual grant of £lO should be given to tho Kaiapoi Technical School. Mr G, Gould granted ths co'dncil permission to go on his property with » ticw.ion engine to pull out willows at tho cut ing at Goutts Island. It was resolved that the council should take no action in respect to tho Waimakoxiri Harbour District and Empowering Amendment Bill. Mr F. Frcoman, surveyor, notified tho council that ho was about to make a sur-! vey of the road from Clicks, Road to the north branch of the' Wainiakariri, so as to givo access to tho freezing works. Messrs Brockelbank and Coup offered 2s> 6d a cord for willow firewood on the Fvto Rivcx. The matter was loft in tho hands of a member to deal -with. It was resolved i hat certain owners of property adjoining tho Kaikanui Creek should bo given no'.ico to clean out tho creek forthwith. Tho motion, of which notice had bacn given, regarding? the levy of rates for the year 1917-18 was passed. It wa3 resolved that tho Rangiora County Council be informed that it was the council's intention to call tenders for shingling fno Boundary Road, and 10 ask tho Rangiori Council if it would be to pay half tho cost. It was decided that Mr E. Lord should be paid half cost of cleaning out drain on south sido of the Ohoka Road from Power's bridge to Jiis boundary. It was resolved that Mr Rich should bo empowered to spend £lO in improving tho wa'erway in the north branch of the Waimakariri, near Giles's.
