Mr 11. G. Ell, M.P., wrote asking tor a grant to the Summit Road scheme when the borough estimates wore next considered. The letter Was received, the request being described as “ a hardy annual.” The Christchurch Canal Leumue applied for a grant. Tho Mayor said the work being done by the league was for the good oi the city, and ho moved that £5 5s be voted. The motion was carried, Councillor Diack opposing on tho ground that money was tight and the application could wait until after the war. Tho Finance Committee s report- was adoptcd. The Works Committees report stated that the question of tho storage of ’’dangerous 'roods’had been referred to a sub-committee. which would report la‘or.
