CALL FOR MEN.
CHRISTCHURCH AREA. NINE- ENLISTMENTS YESTERDAY. Nine men enlisted for service yesterday, .including the following:--George Ashley Hamilton, S, King's Avenue, machinist. ' „, Sydney Courtnoy Jones, 33, Lansdowne .terrace. Dalliugton, motor mechanic. Ernee>t Arthur Wallace, Tai Tapu, farm hand, MAORIS AND RECRUITING. [Per Par.ss Association.] AUCKLAND, November 21. The Hon Jn mes Allen addressed a largo gathering of Wnikato and other Natives to-day at Mercer, regarding the question of .Maori recruiting. Mr Allen pointed out that up to the present 1700 younjj Maoris from various tribes had gone to the front, but he regretted that tho Waikato Natives had not contributed their quota. He pointed ontT the. power given him to cxend compulsion to the Natives. "King" Rata was not present but his "Prime Minister" stated that no hindrance would be placed in tho way of young members of the tribes enlisting-
