A jumble sale will be held to-day in the Kiph Street Methodist Schoolroom. Xext Saturday a. special train will leave Christchurch at fl a.m. for the Hororata races, returning at 6.30 p.m. Special twins will be run on the same day tor the Christchurch Kofo Fete.
A public meeting will be held in the Marshland Hail on Tuesday night to deal with local patriotic business. The fortv-eixth anniversary sorviccs of the Oxford Terrace Baptist Sunday School will be held to-morrow. A children's choir of 200 voices, assisted by a large orchestra, will contribute items. The celebrations will he continued on Tuesday evening. At to-morrow evening's service a.t the Durham Street Methodist Church, Sister Edith Walton will relate the storv of,her work in the city during the past year. Associated with her will be Sister Ruth, superintendent of the, Methodist Deaconesses' Home. The service will be conducted by the'' Rev S. La-wry. Entries for Ihe Rose Show to be held in connection with thn Patriotic. Rose Fete in the Botanic Gardens on December 2 will close with the secretary. Mr .T. Timbrel!, at .the Canterbury Horticultural Societ.v's office. Baker's Buildings, Manchester Stveet, on Wednesday, at S p.m. Schedules may be obtained at A. W! Buxton, Ltd.. C. E. Gibbons and Co., and af the Veterans' Association rooms, 04, Gloucester Street, or will be posted if desired. Applications for space for exhibition only will be received at the same time of entries closing, statins space required.
