The German Waiters' League, which proudly announces that it "possesses its own club-houses in London ariS Chicago," has just published its war record. Thanks largely, no doubt, to generous tips earned in West End hotels, restaurants, and grill-rooms, the league has £55,000 in its treasury, from which it is paying regular stipends to dependents of members. These numbered 13,045 on December 81. 1915, of whom on May 31, 1916, 7000 were.with the German colours. The league has so far lost 414 members killed in action; 227 have recoived the Iron Cross, and 277. have been promoted to higher ranks, including one who has been promoted to a lieutenancy company leadership.
