WAR PENSIONS BOARD.

YESTERDAY’S SITTINGS. The "War Pensions Board bold a sitting at Rangiora yesterday morning. There were fourteen North Canterbury cases in the list to bo dealt- with, hour, however, had boon disposed of in Christchurch. and the other four will receive attention elsewhere to suit the convenience of tlio applicants.’ The remaining six cases wei© dealt with. A liio pension of 2os per week was granted to one applicant whose., injuries wore of such a nature as to cause partial disablement of his right am and left hand’. In respect of the other five most of the applicants were suffering from the after effects of illness contracted in the trenches, and decisions, were deferred until the expiry of allowances previously granted or renow fed, when the men will be again medically examined and thencases finally dealt with. Iu the afternoon the board held a brief sitting at Kaiapoi. Avisit of inspection was afterwards paid to the Wqollen Mills, and the board returned to Christchurch. At Christchurch several cases were dealt with. One man was notified that bis allowance would cease in November next- Another man had his allowance extended for three months, when he-trill receive his final payment. Of the Others three will be considered at the end of their period, which expires in December next. The case of a, man who had j«st lodged his application was adjourned till medical advice had been received from Wellington. It was decided that on application one man will be allowed £2 12s 6d. £1 a week , for himself, 10s for Ids wife, and 7s 6d each for his three children. One man requires further treatment, and will,go into an institution. In the meantime he will receive a small pension, and'bis case will ho reviewed when he leaves the institution. The board will leave for Dunedin today. - It will pass on to Invercargill on Monday morning, calling at Gore on the way. It. will return to Dunedin on Thursday, and will remain there till Saturday. It will sib, at Oamaru on the following Monday, at Tim am on the Tuesday, and at Ashburton on Wednesday. arriving in Christchurch on Thursday. August 31. The cases which have been missed in Christchurch will lie dealt with on that day.
