Negotiations between the Government and the New Zealand cheese producers for ’ the purchase, on account of the Imperial Government, of a portion of the season’b output, have fallen through. The producers quote Bsd per lb as a minim*am, but this the Government is unable to accept. The producers prefer to sell to ,the representatives of English firms at tho price offered by them rather than accept tho Imperial Government’s terms. The “Otago Daily Times” states that over 70 per cent of the factories in Otago havo already disposed of their outputs for the season at pnoe* ranging'from 6Jd to BJd, and at least one factory has sold its output for 9d per lb. ■
