A WELLINGTON CASE.
FRIENDLY SOCIETIES WIN ACTION. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 17. Dr Edward William Srnythe, of Ngapara, was sued in the Magistrate s Court to-day by the Wellington United Friendly Societies’ Medical Institute for £125. The statement of claim sot out that the defendant was engaged by the institute to act as medical ofncer for three years at a salary or £SOO. After acting for four days, defendant, under pressure from the local branch of the Medical Association, resigned without giviug three mouths notice or a quarter’s salary in lieu of notice, as provided by the agreement, putting the institute to the expense of £9OO in medical fees on account of members. . . . Judgment was given against tno defendant, who did not appear, for the amount ’claimed.
