REDCLIFFS VENETIAN CARNIVAL.

SATURDAYS SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. On Saturday evening a Venetian Carnival was held at Redcliffs in aid oi the. Red Cross Fund. From a spectacular point of view the function was a great success. Atmospheric and tide conditions were perfect, and the brilliant coloured electric lighting of the yacht Yvonne. together with the scheme of Japanese lantern lighting for the smaller crart, and the bold electric lighting of the boathousc and refreshment grounds, proved in a surprising manner how beautifully the waterfront at Monck's Bay is adapted tor disnlavs of this nature. During tho evening collection boxes were busy and for a small sum joy riders tore over the water in the following motor-boats:—P.D.Q., Dixie Kid, Intruder, Defender, Spindrift, Lorelli and Rata.

An enjoyable entertainment was given, from the illuminated Yvonne by the Italian Concert Party, while patriotic songs and choruses were, sung by the Ladies' Patriotic Glee Club. Tim refreshment tent, produce and sweets stalls did a good business, and flip total results are" expected to reach £SO.
