INDUSTRIAL GROUP.

TIMBER AND BUILDING TRADES SECTION. A meeting of the Timber and Building Trades section of the Industrial Group was bold at the Art Gallery on Saturday evening. - Sir Goss presided.

The secretary was instructed to forward a vote of condolence to Mr J. A. Scarff on account of a recent bereavement in his family. The treasurer's weekly statement of accounts showed that cash in hand amounted to £591 17s 5d and donations promised but not yet paid in to £I4OO. It was decided to pay the sum of £looo.in to the group treasurer as soon as that amount was in hand. The secretary reported that the sale. of art union tickets had been commenced that day. An offer was received from the Master Plumbers'. Association of a gift of a Doulton art bath, porcelain enamelled, with electro-plated fittings, fixed in any building in Christchurch or Ashburton.

The offer was accepted with thanks, and Messrs R, Scott, C. Otley and R. Killick word appointed a sub-commit-tee to consider the best means of disposing of the gift. The. secretary reported having attended a meeting of the group executive. Sub-committees had been appointed to organise an early morning sale of hot rolls in the city and suburbs, and to consider the advisability of holding an exhibition of local industries. It had also heen decided to ocquiie premises suitable for the temporary headquarters of the group. Mr G. L. Donaldson stated that the Art Gallery would not be available for meetings after March 4, but that the Y.M.C.A. had offered the uso of their hall free of charge for Patriotic Fund meetings.
