TO CORRESPONDENTS.

Mrs E. M. —Y es, laundries come under the Factories Act, and payment should be made in. respect of public holidays. The Labour Department has promised to investigate your complaint. CHRTSTCHU.RCH RETAIL DRAPERS’ ASSISTANTS UNION. TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—As I was waited on by one of .the employers this morning and told that the employers had never refused to meet the drapers’ assistants in conference, I wish to state that - the employers did refuse to meet the delegates chosen by the union. They said they were quite willing to meet three delegates who are at present engaged in tho trade and myself, but tne union thought if was only right to semi who they wished, and the employers could do the same. The three delegates chosen by the union have all been at the drapery trade, and 1 don’t think it is fair of tho employers to say they have never refused to meet the union in conference. The union- is ,still willing to meet them, but wants the privilege to send who it wishes.—l am, etc., It. HOPPY. Secretary, Christchurch Drapers’ Assistants Union.
