SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

WHARENTTI. The Wharenui School Committee met on Alonday evening; present—Messrs I l '. G. Coombs (chairman), Steere, Staunton, Stokes, AT Lean, Gudsell, • Burgess and Church. Mr I). Al’Lean, the newly-elected member, took his seat. The Bo a I'd of Education wrote stating that applications were being invited for an assistant, master, aud that the Board would appoint pupil teachers. It was decided that the school should break up for the Christmas holidays on December 23 and resume on February 1. It was agreed, as the majority of householders had voted in favour of the racecourse, to hold the annual' picnic there. Air Steere reported that £1 Is had been forwarded to the Technical College for prizes. Air Steere asked leave to withdraw liis notice of motion regarding the purchase of land at the rear of the school. Alessrs Coombs and Burgess were appointed a visiting committee for the month. The Works Committee was empowered to proceed with the erection of seats for the new playground.
