RIOTS IN PRESTON.
WHIT-MONDAY PROCESSION. " Times" and Sydney " Sun" Services. LONDON, June" 2. The Whit Monday procession of Catholic guilds at Preston was refused permission to carry the statue of the Madonna .and Child. Tho guilds persisted, believing they had legal rights.' The crowd surged round, and oranges, eggs and stones were thrown. A 1 man, who was prominent in fomenting trouble, was thrown into the outer dockj and cries of " Booh-booh " drowned an enthusiastic demonstration by the majority of tho spectators.
