LANCASTER PARK.
CARNIVAL TO BE HELD.
A special meeting of the Board of Control of Lancaster Park was held yesterday; present—Messrs 0. R. Clark (chairman), F. Wilding, G. H. Mason, D. Reese, F. T. Evans and H. B. Gould (secretary). The secretary reported that with a view to reducing the debt on the Park he had been in correspondence with Mr W. Lints, of New Plymouth, who was the successful organiser of the recent “Carnival Queen Election” at Wanganui. The carnival held at Wanganui was one of a number of carnivals on similar lines recently held in the North Island, and all of these had proved very successful. _ There was no doubt a carnival on similar lines 'in Christchurch, in aid of such au object as the preservation for recreative purposes of Lancaster Park, would attract a very large measure of public support. He submitted an offer from Mr Lints to organise a carnival, with a carnival rumen election, in Christchurch, in aid or Lancaster Park funds. After discussion it was resolved to accept Mr Lints’s offer to organise a carnival during November next.
