THE PRIME MINISTER’S MEETING.
TO TUB EDITOR. Sir, —The announcement that Mr! tttas3ey • will speak in Christchurch on 1 Friday nest is very interesting, and with your permission I will ask the promoters of the meeting a few questions: — , . . Is the meeting a public-one, or is admission by.ticket only? How many police, special constables and strike-breakers will be present? I Is a peaceable citizen in danger of sjection and prosecution for seditious language if he asks Mr Massey a question, or. interjects “No,” or makes a similar remark, especially if he was born in Australia, and is thus a “foreigner”? How many police is it estimated will be required to protect Mr Massey from the effusive welcome of his loving subjects? An honest answer to the above quesfcieiis may save a lot of trouble, as all Mr Massey’s opponents will stay away, thus obviating the necessity for the employment of tho -police, special and otherwise, if it is stated that it is a Jheeting of “ Reformers ” only. In common with hundreds of others. I would like to hear Mr Massey speak, but . I am not -going to the meeting to be hit with a hardwood baton for daring to oppose the great statesman who li to address the meeting.—l am, etc., SYD. KINGSFORD. 107, Riccarton lload, June 1.
