PROFESSOR PRINCE'S CRUISE. ■[Per Press Association.]

AUCKLAND, May 14. 1 Professor Prince, Canadian Commis* Bioner of Fisheries., has now almost Completed his investigation of the sea fisheries of New Zealand, having traversed the whole coast of the South Island and tho east coast of the North Island. It is his intention to conduct further trawling operations in the Hinemoa as far as the North Cape and thence down the west coast to Wellington. The Professor said that he was very pleased with the results of his coastal cruise up to tho present. With the Exception of a few days fine weather had been met with and large hauls of all kinds of fish had been made. He could not help being impressed with the large rariety of edible fish to be found all round the New Zealand coast. The big variation in the species of fish secured was noticeable as he came north. "I was much ; Struck," the Professor said, " with the abundance of schnapper in northern waters as disclosed by the trawls. I consider that schnapper is a remarkably fine food fish and one that is not appreciated as it should he.
