THE CIVIL SERVICE.

EXAMINATION CONDITIONS. [From Our Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, March 24

The Public Service Commissioners have decided not to alter the conditions of the 1915 Public Service examinations. It was originally intended to modify the svllabus somewhat, but representa-, tions were made that the notice was too short for students. Some changes may be anticipated in the following year. A well-managed correspondence school exists for the benefit of , post and telegraph employees who have to pass several departmental examinations. Mr Robertson, Chief Public Service Commissioner, was asked by tho ''Lyttelton Times" correspondent if the benefits of this institution are to be extended to the general Public Service. He replied that if there was a demand it could be met, but the majority of Civil Servants are engaged in Wellington and other centres, where they are able to secure efficient coaching.
