SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

ADDINGTON. The Addington School Committee met on Wednesday evening j present—Messrs J. G. Down (chairman), W. Bowden, W. G. Burns, D. M'Cracken, W. Downing, R. Walls and J. Spiller. The headmaster's report showed the number on the roll to bo 653, with an average attendance of 619. Robert Crcsswell had gained six first-class attendance certificates and it was decided to present him with an attendance medal. The school was well represented at the Public Schools' sports and tho boys gained second place for the shield, which was a creditable distinction. Earl Grey, accompanied by Captain Eastwood, had visited the school and expressed his pleasure at tho general arrangements. Correspondence was received from the Education Board stating that tho application of the caretaker to come under tho superannuation scheme had been referred to the Education Department and also confirming the appointment of Miss N. M. J. Hobbs as pupil teacher. Reports were received from the Library, Visiting, Baths and Grounds Committees. It was decided to continue improving tho grounds and to approach the Board in reference to having a number of trees topped om adjoining sections.
