The President, answering an objection that the repeal of the Panama tolls exemption is inconsistent with the Democratic platform, points out that the exemption Bill was carried only with the aid of Republican votes. The President expects the support of two hundred Democrats when tho House votes. UNEXPECTED OPPOSITION. (Received March 24, 11.55 p.m.) LONDON, March 24. Reuter's Washington correspondent states that stubborn opposition has arisen in the House against the repeal of the tolls exemption. A peculiar feature is that Mr Clark, the Speaker, Mr Underwood, and other politicians who usually support the Administration, now are opposing the repeal.
