A CONFERENCE WITH FRANCE. DISCUSSION OF DETAILS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, March 4. Mr F. D. Acland, Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs, informed Mr W. Joynson-Hicks that pourparlers had been opened with France towards a conference to discuss details regarding the New Hebrides. • NEW ZEALAND’S INFLUENCE ASKED. COMMONWEALTH READY TO NEGOTIATE. ' SYDNEY, March 5. Representations have been made to Mr Massey by the Presbyterian Missions Board of Australia asking the dominion to use its influence in supporting the protest to Mr Lewis Harcourt, regarding the New Hebrides. Referring to the cable suggestion that Australia should acquire the French rights of the New Hebrides by purchase, Mr Glynn, Federal Minister of External Affairs, said that the Commonwealth was prepared to meet any opportunity of settling the question on lines honourable to the two nations concerned, whether it involved pecuniary or other methods of adjustment.
