A young woman named Julia Decies has been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment for wounding with murderous intent Basil Piffard, of independent means. Tho couple had lived together in a West End flat for years. On returning from supper tho accused shot Piffard, permanently injuring his eye, because lie stated he might go to Paris with another woman. THEFTS FROM A RESTAURANT. A waiter and a clerk in a restaurant at Soho were each sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment for theft. It was stated that when the accused were arrested seven other waiters stampeded, not waiting to receive their wages. The takings at the restaurant had since increased by £SO weekly.
