Baron Newton’s amendment to the Money-Lenders’ Act was read a third time in the House of Lords. Tho amendment provides for legislation to prohibit money-lenders touting by means of circulars and using the names of well-known persons. REDISTRIBUTION. DISCUSSION IN THE HOUSE. • (Received March 5, 11 p.m-) LONDON, March 5, The House of Commons agreed to Mr Edgar Jones’s motion that a Select Committee should be appointed to consider redistribution. Mr Long appealed to the Government to institute an independent inquiry to prevent the present suggestion that it had gerrymandered the constituency. The Right Hon H. L. Samuel said that the Government was willing to appoint a Minister to the committee if tho Opposition would join in tho effort to formulate a fair scheme. Ho hoped to settle redistribution beforo tho general election in 1915 if Parliament ran its normal course. WELSH DISESTABLISHMENT. ' LONDON, March 5, Mr Asquith received the organisers of the Welsh Nonconformists’ petition against Disestablishment. Ho said that the deputation had failed to supply a reason for their attitude or explain their objection to disendowment.
