REPORTS. Tho engineer, in his report, 6tated that the cost of a seven hog wire fence around the septic tank, to keep off children and cattle, would be about £■4s. It wa3 decided to erect the fence. The report stated that :he Iso. 22 pipe-laving contract, St Albans, had been completed. It was decided to accede to Mr Toilerton's application for permission to cut a new drain from Philpott's Road for a distance of eighteen chains westward, three chains south-west, and again ten chains westward. It was decided to engage a man to help in the irrigation work of the Board.

The manager of the pumping station reported that the pumping, plant worked very satisfactorily during the month of February, and pumped 611,630 tons to the farm—502,(572.2 tons by the motors and 8,957.8 tons by the steam plant. The gas-producers, scrubbers and vapourisers at tho station required repairing. It was decided to have tho machinery patched up, to keep it running till it was settled whether or not the station should be worked later by electricity from Lake Coleridge CORRESPONDENCE. Tho City Council wrote concerning the bad state of the open drain on Edward Avenue. It was stated that the drain affected the value of property of residents of tho locality, and the Board had offered to pay one-third of the cost of covering it if tho remainder were made up. This offer had been refused. It was decided that the engineer of the Board should give the dram special attention in the future. THE ABATTOIR SEWAGE. Another letter was received from the City Council, stating that since the sewage from the abattoir had ceased to be poured' into the Lincoln Road sewer tho offensive odour, which had previously been complained of, had still continued, and complaints were still made, leading to the assumption that the odour from tho drain was not caused bv the abattoir sewage. . The Council therefore asked for permission to have tho abattoir sewage poured into the Lincoln Road drain again. The letter enclosed a report of the Duuedin city engineer, stating that in Dunedin abattoir sewage was poured into the Drainage Board's drains and no odour resulted. Members of the Board denied that the odour had continued since tho abattoir sewage had been removed from the drain. The engineer of the Board stated that the abattoir sewage could be rendered innocuous at the abattoir before being poured into the drain. It was decided that tho engineer of the Board should visit the abattoir with the city engineer, and report to the Board at the next meeting. GENERAL. The application of the Waimairi County Council for a remission of rates was gra'nted. Messrs Brightling and Marriott waited on the Board to explain why a certain piece of work which they had performed for tho Board required to be done over again. It was decided to inquire into the matter. Mr A. J. WiUey was granted permission to erect a water-wheel. Accounts amounting to £1493 Is 8d were passed for payment.
