(Abridged from Press Association.) HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Friday, September 13. AFTERNOON SITTING. The House met at 2.30 p.m. GOVERNMENT BUSINESS . Tho Hon W. F. Massey gave notice of bis intention to move that on and after Wednesday, September 18, Government business should take preceflpTlPP SIR- JOSEPH WARD. The Speaker read a letter from the Sir Joseph Ward Presentation Committee, asking that the Houso should accept a photograph of Sir Joseph to commemorate his retirement from tho leadership of Parliament. On the motion of the Prime Minister, the photograph was accepted. THE ESTIMATES. The Houso went into committee on the Estimates. DEFENCE DEPARTMENT. The Minister stated that the amendments brought down in tb© Defenco Department votes effected a saving of £2ll on tho original estimates. Tho Houso adjourned at, 5.30 p.m. EVENING SITTING. The House resumed at 7.30 p.m. The discussion of the Defenco estimates was continued. The total vote passed without amendment. The Customs, Marino and Harbour Inspection and Machinery vote, totalling £132,230, passed without alteration. Tho Department of Labour vote, £26,658, was passed without discussion. The Prime Minister thon moved to report progress. This wns agreed to. Iho Houso rose at 1.10 a.m.
