RIVER BOARDS.
MANDEVILLE AND RANGIORA. Tho monthly meeting of tho Mandeville and Rangiora River Board was held on Thursday; present:—Messrs J. G. Doak (chairman). Hughs, Mortland, Power and Young. Mr J. G. Doak was appointed to attend tho meeting of representatives of local bodies at Christchurch on May 13 to elect members to the Local Government Conference in Wellington. Mr W. J. Frazer wroto enclosing forms of statistics to be supplied for the vear ending March 31, 1912. The cleric of the Hutt River Board District wroto asking for the Board's opinion of the proposed! abolition of river boards by the new Local Government Bill. The clerk was directed to reply that the Board was of opinion it would be a great mistake to do away with river boards. Messrs J. C. Bate and Grieble wrote agreeing to the Board's conditions for cleaning the River Cam to April 1, 1913. Mr M. Evans's request that the Board should clean out tho Cust flood channel drain was agreed to. It was resolved that notice should be given to all occupiers of land fronting on'the No. 7 drain north, and also the rivor Cam, to clear the wftlows obstructing the free flow of the water. At Mr B. Fergussbn's request it was decided to have Roy's Road drain deepened for about five chains. The surveyor was directed to accept Messrs Bloy and Burrell's- tender for cleaning No - " drain, north, and invite tenders for widening Basset's drain to i eight feet wide at the bottom.
