THE MAYORAL ELECTION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir _iFor 'the benefit of Mr " Audi Alteram Partem" I will be more explicit in regard to what I mentioned. When I went to vote, in order to get into the booth I had to pass close to a man standing outside the building, who handed mo a card., on which was printed « How to Vote." Then followed the" names of the three candidates with lines through two of them, leaving Dr Thacker's name uncancelled When I received my ballot paper t found that instead of crossing out two of the names I had to put a cross opposite the one I preferred so the card did not really tell me 'Show to vote " but the purpose of its issue was ciuite plain. I was told that tho same tiling was done elsewhere, but I know for certain that it was done where I voted, and as I had been given to understand that such a thing was illegal [ wondered why it was permitted.— I am, etc., O'DANIELS.
