Mr Michael Joseph Kirwan, the Labour candidate, won the Brisbane seat by a majority of thirty-six votes, defeating tho Government candidate, Mr E. J. Forrest, the nrevious representative of tho electorate.

The counting in some other doubtful seats is still incomplete, and in consequence it is impossible to give a definite statement regarding the strength of parties in the new House.

The defeated Labour candidate for the Logan seat, Mr W. E. N. Arnold, admitted that the recent strike in Brisbane had done the Labour cause a lot of harm.

The counting in two more electorates has been completed. • Each returned three Liberals and three Labour members. Previously there had been four Liberals and two Labour men.
