T [Per Pkicss Association.] AUCKLAND, May 3. John Anderson, who fell down the hold of the Mokoia on April 26, sustaining a fractured jaw, thigh and wrist, died from his injuries to-day. A. H. Gatland, headmaster of tho Coromandel High School, committed suicide at his residence last night. He was found dead with the muzzle of a rifle in his mouth and a hole right through his head. He was to havo represented the Coromandel Lodge at tho conference of Masons in Dunedin. PALMERSTON NORTH, May 3. Richard Robertson was discovered last night lying in a helpless condition in Church Street. He was in a very bad way, but was able to speak. He informed a constable that he came from Makuri, and was seventy years old. Ho died in the Hospital an hour later.

MARTON, May 3. George Phippen, a young man residing with his'parents at Crofton, was found in his bedroom this morning with the side of his head blown out, the result of a gunshot in the mouth. The gun was found lying between his legs. WESTPORT, May 3. Iha Gibson, aged two years and five months, when getting out of her cot, was impaled on the upright of tho cot from which the knob was missing. The child died from injuries in the groin. David Parry, twenty-nine vears of age, married, and a recent arrival from Wales, was killed in the Stockton colliery by a fall of coal and stone from tho roof.

SUDDEN DEATH AT SPREYDON. • The Rev Joseph Butler, aged sixtythree, a Baptist minister residing at Spreydon, died suddenly vesterdav ot 1.30 p.m. Mr Butler had Icon onKsis months in the countrv, and on Wednesday last he went to Wellington to meet his two daughters, who arrivdo from England. He arrived home at about 12 o'clock yesterday, and shortly afterwards, feeling ill,' laid down for a while. He got up, shortlv afterwards, and, going into "tho kitchen, fell down and expired. Dr Brown was called, but on his arrival life was extinct. An inquest was held last night before Mr 11. W. Bishop. Coroner. Dr Brown stated that death was due to syncope following an attack of angina pectoris, and a verdict was returned in j accordance with the medical evideace.
