MEETINGS OF PARISHIONERS

HOLT TRINITY, LYTTELTON. The adjourned meeting of parishioners of Holy Trinity Church,. Lyttelton, was held on Thursday. The vicar, the Rev Canon Coates, presided, and there was a large attendance. Tho balancesheet showed that the receipts for the year amounted to £541 13s sd, but that, owing to considerable outlay on the vicarage, the building of a new infant schoolroom and the enlargement of the organ, the expenditure had exceeded that amount. Tho vicar spoke hopefully of the spiritual work of the parish, and reported that the various organisations had rendered excellent service. The following church officers were elected:—Vicar's churchwarden, Dr UphartT; parishioners' . warden. Mr J. T. Brica; yestrymen, Messrs W. G. Shepheard, E. R. Vickerman, J. Furneaux, G. J. F. Cowan, E. G. Page, S. Tredennick. W. Hillsdon, J. Bradbury, F. W. Fisk and C F. Morgan: auditors, Messrs M. Weastell and Brown. A motion was carried in favour of extending the ecclesiastical franchise to women: "It was intended to make a presentation of silver plate to Mr W. G. Shepheard, but, owing to illness, ho was unable to be present. The vicar, in making the presentation on behalf of the parishioners ,to a member of Mr Shepheard's family, referred to the valuable work Mr Shepheard had rendered to the church for many yc"rs, to the esteem in which he was held, and to the - sympathy of his fellow-church-men with him in his serious illness. Votes of thanks were passed to all church' workers. A short musical programme , was rendered, nnd refreshments were handed round.
