MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
The fortnightlv meeting of the Loyal Good Intent Lodge of Oddfellows was held at Akaroa oh Monday evening, tho N.G. Brother J. R. Newton, presiding over a very good attendance. Tho District Lodge wrote regarding the payment of a funeral claim. Sick pay was claimed and granted to four brothers on tho funds. One candidate was balloted for and elected, and two others wore proposed. The sub-committee appointed to consider a scheme for entertainments during the winter months submitted a report, which was adopted, and arrangements were made accordin civ. Receipts for the evening amounted to £7 10s 9d. The fortnightly mooting of the Loyal Leeston Lodge of Oddfellows was hold on Monday evening, N.G. Brother L. Levbourne presiding over a fair attendance. The sick report stated that fivo members were requiring the assistance of tho Lodge. Tho North Canterbury District Lodge wrote, asking for a programme for insertion in the official handbook. It was resolved that the secretarv should write to Brothers D. Bird and D. M'Vimue, expressing the Lodge's sympathy in then- late bereavements. P.O. Brother M'Cloud. of the Loyal Karangahako Lodge, Auckland, W as among those present. After the meeting a card tournament took place, for prizes presented by Brother W. Parkin, P.G. Brother R. Rodgers and Brother L. Leybourne were the winners.
