SUMNER BRASS BAND.
APPEAL FOR FUNDS
There was a very largo gathering of tho residents of Sumner in the Sumner Town Hall yesterday afternoon, when tho Mayor, Mr H. J. Marriner, opened a very successful bazaar in aid of the funds of tho Sumner Brass Band. In declaring the bazaar open, Mr Marriner said that the band had been formed in the borough some three years previously by tho local “ Popularising Society,”’ but it had fallen into debt somewhat for its uniforms and instruments, and it was to pay off that debt that tho bazaar had been organised by tile Sumner ladies. Ho hoped that tho residents would respond generously and set the band on a sound footing. The stalls wore thronged yesterday with buyers, and the stallholders wero kept busy until closing time. In tho evening a very enjoyable concert was given by tho Woolston and New Brighton Brass Bands. The list of stallholders is as follows: —Produce, Sirs H.. J. Marriner, Sirs Ledger, Sirs 11. J. Gibbs and Sliss Lough; sweets, Slesdames Ferguson, Johnson, Lough and Buttle and Sliss Brown; floral, Sirs Cuddy and Sliss N. Barr; bran tub, Sirs Peacock and Sirs Talbot; art work, Slesdames Rawnsloy, Amycs and Illingworth and Sliss Brower; novelties, Slesdames Slodlin, Seymour. Sl’Owen and J. D. Watson;
