THE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. [Per Press Association.] WANGANUI, September 6. Glorious weather was experienced to-day when the New Zealand golf championship meeting, which is being held on Belmont links, was oontinued. The day’s programni' was opened by D. M’Cormick, J. Goss, jun., ' and F. V.’. Seifert playing over six holes to decide who should qualify for the amateur championship, having tied for the thirty-second place in the qualifying ronndß of the open, championship. At the iourth hole Goss was bunkered at least three strokes, thus falling out of the running. Seifert and M’Cormick continued to tie eighth hole, where the latter made the deciding score. Tho first round of the professional championship was then started, only two pairs being drawn. Keen ■ interest was taken in the match between J. C. Johnson and J. M’Cormick, both of whom, but especially. Johnson, had been showing excellent form.
