At a meeting of the Auckland Licensing Committee to-day, the SubInspector stated that licensees had carried out tlioir promise to refrain from selling drink to women for consumption on hotel premises ill a thoroughly satisfactory way, except in the case of one hotel. On the night of August 12 J>o had found in that hotel ton women and one mail drinking liquor at table?, 'and one woman waiting to be served. Counsel for the licensee said that the latter had dono his best to fulfil tho promise made, but found his custom slipping away. Tho Bench said they did not want to analyse reasons, anil could only soy that they wore disappointed.
