In October Mr Winston Churchill appointed a committee, with Mr Mastorman as chairman, to consider rescue arrangements in mines and draft regulations. The committee has now reported. It recommends tho establishment of a brigade in every mine and borough, to be trained and fitted tor rescue work, which will be restricted to authorised persons. It also recommends tho maintenance of the necessary apparatus and the latest tracings of the workings in mines.
