COLLAPSE OF CLAYPIT.
TWO MEN ENTOMBED FOR TWELVE DAYS. Unfted Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 24. A Paris message says that the collapse of a claypit at Vinesville, Normandy, entombed two men. The rescuers lowered sixteen loaves, soup, fifty quarts of cider, and quantities of tobacco. Then a second collapse occurred, cutting off communication. The rescuers worked day and night for eleven and a half days. The shaft collapsed four times, but eventually the men were rescued.
