THE CHURCHES.

TO TUB EDITOR. Sir _ln his address last evening at St Luke's the Rev Mr Fitzgerald repeatedlv spoke of the half dead nonconformists leaving; the historic ship (the Church of England) and .acing the ocean in their own little boats. He admits the little boats may get to the desired haven somehow, but this big ship (his church) is absolutely sure to get there according to him. All the same I. for one, think most of the planks in the small beats are sounder than in the old ship. The big old ship has a deal of barnacles to got removed —I am, etc.,

•EVANGELISTIC.

AN ERRATIC TRAM SERVICE. TO THE EDITOR.

' Si rj _ A St Albans gentleman and ' his wife have just informed me of their experiences of the new tram services. The lady on Tuesday night last, boarded a Linwood car at about eight o clock, and was kept waiting half an hour before it started. Again, on Thursday night, they got on a Linwood car at half-past seven, and with many other Eassengers were again delayed, half an our waiting at the Bank corner. The other passengers were heard to complain about the unconscionable delay, and many uncomplimentary remarks on the new system wez-c passed. It should be stated" that on both occasions tbe motorman and conductor were on duty in the car wasting time doing nothing. Surely this is not a fair sample of an improved service. I have looked up the new time-table and find therein no mention of such long waits, but on the contrary find that the cars are timed to run at frequent intervals! of only a few minutes between each trip. Surely there is something wrong with tbe management when such delays take place.—l am, etc., A LINWOOD RESIDENT.
