A HEAVY SEA.

ALASKAN SETTLEMENT DTSTROYED. United Presß Association—By Electric Tolegraph—Copyright. (Received November 6, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, November 5. Solomon, a small settlement east of Nome, Alaska, has been dostroyed by a terrific surf unaccompanied by wind or rain. The Nome flooding is inexplicable. It is now announced that there was no storm there during the tide rush. Probably it w 0.3 caused by a volcanic disturbance. Schooners were driven ashore. If icebergs had been as far southward as usual they would have been dashed against buildings on the water-front streets.
