HOCKEY.

THURSDAY MATCHES. Thursday plavers had fino weather overhead yesterday for the continuation of the Canterbury Hockey Association's competitions, but tho grounds were in a very soft condition, dwing to the rain and frost. The following aro details of the play : FIRST GRADE. Sydenham and Hardware met on the Polo Ground, the match resulting in a win for the former by two goals to one. For the winners White, and for the losors Mackenzie scored. Mr L. Ousworth was referee. Drapers met Lyttelton at Lyttelton, the game resulting in a win for Drapers by three goals, scored by Pratt (two) and M’Lolland, to two goals, scored by James. Mr S. Mitchell was referee.

SECOND GRADE

Sydenham and Kaiapoi met at Kaiapni, tho home toam winning by two goals, scored by Jones and Hale, to nil. Mr H. Oram was referee.

The match between Union Rowing Club and Farmers, played at the Polo Ground, ended in favour of the former by two goals to one. Kingsland and Adams scored for tho winners, and Hocking for the losers. Mr Riches was referee.

Lyttelton and St Luke’s met on the Polo Ground; and the latter team won by eight goals to one. Tho scorers were Button (three), Smith (three), Kilgour, and Can leron for St Luke's, and Crocker for Lyttelton. Air Shepheard was referee. Young Men’s Christchurch Association won by default from Addington. THIRD GRADE. Union Rowing Club defeated Lyttelton at the Polo Ground by four goals to one. Kincaid (three), and Scrimshaw scored for the winners, and Payne for Lyttelton. Mr Brinkman was ref cree. Sydenham defeated Bible Class by two goals to nil, the mutch being played at Sydenham. The goals wero scored by Wilson ami Dyer. Air H. D. Milne was referee.
