JEALOUS LOVER.
MURDERS HIS SWEETHEART. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. BRISBANE, June 16.
A tragedy occurred in a street in the centre of Rockhampton and in the presence of ii largo number of people who wore assembling for a school prize day. A well-known amateur jockey named Davis fired a revolver at a man named Hett, who was standing talking to friends in a buggy. Davis then went up to the buggy and shot Miss Emily Salisbury, twenty-three years of age, in tho back. He then rushed round to the front of the trap and fired two more shots in the girl's breast and killed her. Detectivo Seymour rushed upon Davis, who attempted to fire on the officer, but the weapon missed fire, and he was arrested. Hett was badly wounded. Jealousy is supposed to be the cause of tho tragedy.
