Bates’s summary and forecast; —Freshening southerly winds have spread over the country to-day and a decided change has taken place in tho weather, which has broueht snow in the south on all tho higher levels. Present indications are for high southerly winds, cold and stormy weather generally. Rain will probably ho heavy in most parts of the country. The barometer is liko'y to rise very high in tho next few days, for a spell of fine weather to follow prosont conditions. Mr G. Henderson, of Port Levy, telephones the following weather forecast: —South-v.-est wind, rain and a heavy fill' of snow. Weather will bo very unsettled, fine in some parts, very stormy in others. A severe storm will visit tho whole of the South Island about July 1. MR PAULIN’S FORECAST. Mr Paulin’s prediction, telegraphed yesterday afternoon, is as follows: Squally north-lvest to south-west winds, cold rain and sleet showers; snow on high levels.
