Canon Tapper intends to devote himself to mission work, and will .sail on ■June 16 for Xow Zealand, where he will carry on a three months' Mission of Help. POUT OF MONTREAL. The Canadian Dominion Government will advance 6,000,000 dollars to tho Montreal Harbour Commission to provide additional port facilities. THE ROOSEVELTS. THE MAINE. WASHINGTON, March 16. The Committee on Naval Affairs approved of the appropriation of half a million dollars to raise the wreck of the battleship Maine at Havana. The wreck is reported to be a menace to navigation. (The blowing up of tho Maine in Havana Harbour was one of the principal incidents that precipitated war between tho United States and Spain in 1898.)
