COLOSSEUM. The attendance at the Colosseum last evening was well up to ,the average, i . jnd the very clear pictures shown byMessrs Fuller and Son were full of interest. The fine dramatic and historical film showing incidents in the life of George Washington was a feature of the programme, and the humorous pictures created hearty laughter. To-day a matinee will be given in addition to the evening performance. . HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. .The Pathe Pictures drew another good house to His Majesty's Theatre I last evening, and the pictures were greeted with much applause. The prinoipal attraction was a film showing the aviation week at Vichy, and another good picture was the dramatic study "'The Prussian Spy." ■ The pictures will be shown at a matinee to-day in iddition to the evening performance. MR JOHN FOSTER FRASER. ' Mr John Foster Fraser, the noted 1 journalist and traveller who is on a lecturing tour through New Zealand, i |» expected to arrive from the south s uiis afternoon. When he passed s through Christchurch on his way south Mr Fraser was welcomed by the Mayor, to-day the Journalists' Institute jvill tender him a* reception at Broadtrays' rooms. Subsequently members ti the Scottish Society will meet at J 1 JSVarner's Hotel to greet him. He will !| give his first lecture in the Theatre I Royal at 8 p.m., and the Scottish \ tiety's pipe band will escort him from Ms hotel to the Theatre. The subject j >f the lecture will bo " America TJp-to--1 flate." and it will bo illustrated by 1 lumbers of views secured by Mr Fraser luring his travels. As to-day is a holilay, the plan of seats will be at the theatre. '•"MAURICE'S VAUDEVILLE COMPANY. ' The Charles Maurice Vaudeville Company, which is touring under the direction of Mr Henry Hayward, will pre--1 sent its opening programme in the Theatre Royal on Monday evening. The company has already had successful seasons in other New Zealand centres, running to four weeks in tho Tivoli Theatre in Auckland and two weeks in the Wellington Opera House. The company includes Mr George Sorlie, who is said to be a clever comedian and dancer; Madiame Blanche Carelli, a Soprano who has previously won success |n vaudeville; the Daphne sisters, who are acrobatic dancers; and a number of others. The plan of seats will be opened at the Dresden to-morrow morning. GARRIOK OPERA COMPANY. At the Opera House this evening the ' Garrick Juvenile Opera Company will produce a musical play entitled " Her Guardian Angel." A company of thirty | girls will give songs and ballets, and twenty boys will also contribute novel - items," which will precede the musical Vlay : , WAINONI PARK. To-day there will be a half-hour tram service to Wainoni Park, commencing at nine o'clock. A large programme of ' sports and amusements has been arranged, and the Labour Day picnic will be held, in the grounds. A naval battle on the lake, Punch and Judy, and Berry's Band are some of the daylight , [attractions, and at night a display of -- mreworks will be given. Special fire(works cars will leave Broadways' corner at 7.15, 7.40 and 8.10 p.m.
