A strike of wheelers has thrown idle the Clifton and South Clifton collieries. The late employees of tlie Proprietary and Block X. mines have decided not to resume work until the company officially recogniso the combined unions. This is causing trouble at Port Pirie smelting works, where a number of hands who had resumed were given a hostile reception by a large crowd, and a couple were assaulted. A strong foTco of police is required to keep order. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 29. The Wellington Trades and Labour Council to-night resolved that in future representatives of capitalistic newspapers should be excluded from the Council’s weekly meetings.
