Mr T. E Taylor, M.P. and Mrs Taylor left for Sydney by the Moana last evening. They intend to make a holiday trip to Queensland. Messrs Felix Walk, E. Neubauer and P. de Antelis left for Dunedin by the second express yesterday. Mr and Mrs Murdoch M'Lean went to Otira yesterday morning. Arrivals in town yesterday included Messrs L. Ullman (New York), J. S. M’Gregor (London), and W. W. Wypor (Sydney). Commissioner David Rees has been appointed Commissioner of the Salvation Army in Australasia, in succession to Commissioner M’Kie. Mr and Mrs Michael Rowe, of the Native Reserve, near Rangiora, celebrated their golden wedding yesterday with a large gathering of their family and friends at the Oddfellows’ Hall, Rangiora. They were married at the parish church at Brosley, Shropshire, England, on April 10, 1859, and about three weeks later set sail in the ship Mary Ann for Lyttelton. .They arrived in August and settled in the Rangiora distriot. They have three sons, a daughter and twenty-one grandchildren. Mr George Stoning, general secretary of the Young Men’s Christian Association, returned to Christchurch on Wednesday, after an absence of twelve months in England and America. He will address a men’s meeting on Sunday afternoon, and the members of the Association will tender, him a welcome at the rooms, Cambridge Terrace, on Thursday. The Hon D. Buddo arrived in Christchurch from Wellington yesterday morning, and went on to Rangiora. In the Choral Hall this evening he will present diplomas awarded to members of the Christchurch branch of the St John Ambulance Association. Dr Schultze has arrived in Sydney from Germany. Hie presence in Australasia is due to a visit he made to the Franco-Britisli Exhibition in 1907, where ho says he saw such a fine collection of Australian and Now Zealand products, especially frozen meat,, that he decided to see the two countries in a trip round the world,, which ho was about to take.
