TO THE EDITOR. Fir, —l was disgusted with Mr Rus- i sell’s remarks and sneer at the importation from home in yesterday’s paper. What would the. feelings -of a strange girl, in a strange country be, and this m a country where we %re told at home, how much kindness -we shall receive. • No wonder .there ■is that cry for domestics. If the girls have not to be taught what will fit them for wives and mothers? , Alauy of the colonial ladies I have met, were never fit to be married. I know one that will boast of .what she learnt at school. Still she admitted she had never touched an iron in her life. Now she has a baby, she does not know what to do with it. Her mother has'.it, more than it is at home. She can’t wash, and never made a pudding in her life before she started nouse-keeping. What must- a man think of a wife like that? If her. income would allow ;it, would she be fit to have a servant, knowing so little herself? Really the poor sneered, importation would do some good if let alone..
