AMUSEMENTS.

THEATRE ROYAL. The first repetition of the programme that proved so succesful on the opeuisng night of the season of Air Rickards’s vaudeville company drew a crowded house to the Theatre Royal on Saturday evening, and the entertainment was appreciatively received. The wonderful feats performed by Cinquevalli provided the chief item of the programme, and Alias Jen Latona’s charming songs were again very popular. The programme will be repeated this evoning. OPERA HOUSE. Tho attendance at the Opera House on Saturday evening was largo, and the selection of cinephono and bioscope items won tho hearty applause of the audience. Tho cinephono selection of “I Love a. Lassie,” sung by Harry Laudor, was ouo of the most popular features of the programme, and the various scenic, dramatic and humorous bioscope views were also well received. The dramatic films included “ Tho Kentuckian,” au attractive abridgment of “ ltomoo and Juliet,” and “A Night of Terror,” a sensational sketch. The scenic pictures were especially good, and included “ Wood-floating in Norway,” “Tunny Fishing in Sicily” and “A Railway .Ride in France. The programme will be repeated this evening. COLOSSEUM. The programme of bioscope pictures which was presented ■ at the Colossoum on Saturday evening was witnessed by a very large audience, and frequent applauso testified to the appreciation with which the piotures wore received. The picture-dramas, “ The Lighthousekeeper.” “The Convict’s Revenge and “ The Tragedy of the Snow ” were among tho most popular items. There was a large attendance of young people at the matinee in the afternoon, and the comic films were welcomed with hearty laughter. The programme will bo repeated this evening. “THE WOMAN PAYS.” , Air Edwin Geach’s dramatic company will commence a season at the Opera House on Alonday evening next. The first production will he a successful modern drama, “The Woman Pays,” which was recently played throughout the Commonwealth and attracted overflowing audiences. The plot of tho drama is said to bo a remarkably strong one. The company includes Misses Ethel Bucklev, Maud Appleton, Leal Douglas, Pattie GourJay, Brenda Burt and Alaud An win, and Alessrs Robert Inman, Kenneth Hunter, J. P. O’Neill, Albert Lucas, Thomas Curran, Harry Norman and Stan Robinson. Tho scenery will comprise a number of studies by Mr Ray Phillips, and the production will he under the supervision of Air George Marlow. The plan of seats is at the Dresden. WEST’S PICTURES. West’s Pictures will open- 6 return season on Alonday, Alay 3, in His Majesty's Theatre, and will submit a new art study, “The Red Hand,” together with an interesting and instructive programme of new pictures. De Groen s Vice-regal Orchestra will supply musical accompaniments. The charges for admission have been reduced since tho last visit of tho pictures to Christchurch. CHRISTCHURCH LIEDERTAFEL. •Tho .Christchurch Liedertafel will give a concert in honour of the. Mendelssohn centenary in His Majesty s Theatre on Friday evening. The soloists will be Messrs C. D. Morns, G. Alarch, A. Millar and R. Vincent, and Dr Bradshaw will play organ solos and Air A. Bunz a pianoforte solo. Tne box plan will be opened at the Dresden at ten o’clock this morning. The dress circlo and orchestral stall? will be retained for subscribers, and stalls may be reserved. ________
