VITAL STATISTICS.

[Ter Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 22 The following are the vital statistics for March:—

(Greater) 13,700 41 9 0.66 The total births in the four principal centres amounted to 637, against 653 in February, an increase of 84. The deaths in March were 245, an increase of 37 on the number in February. Of the total deaths, males contributed 143 .and females 97. Eighty-throe of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 33.88 per cent of the whole number; 69 of these were under one year of age. There were sixty-two deaths of persons of sixty-five years and upwards. Seven men 67, 69, 70, 72, 74, 79 and 86 and eleven women 65 (two), 67, 70, 74, 77, 80, 82, 84 , 85 and 90 died at Auckland; eleven men 65 (two), 66 (two), 67, 70, 73 (three), 76 and 77 and three women 65 (two) and 67 at Wellington; eleven men 65 (two), 67, 69, 71, 73, 75, 76 (two), 77 and 80 and six women 65, 69, 71, 72, 74 and 75 at Christchurch; and nine men 65, 67 (two), 72, 74, 75, 79, 88 and 90 and four women 65, 75, 77 ana 78 at Dunedin.
