POLL CLERKS’ PAY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I understand the poll clerks «F the forthcoming municipal election aror to reoeive the magnificent pay of twelve shillings and sixpence. They null bave to leave their homes probably at 8 a.m. and get done at any time from 9 till 11 p.m., according to the difficulty of counting the votes. They get such meals as they cau manage to eat. ‘it their seats, and generally put in an unpleasant, if not a hard-working (front a manual point) day and a, half. _ T think the Council should pay 20ty_ which the Government do at the parliamentary elections. The deputy retumingofficer should also get more than 25s.—> I am, etc., FAIR PAY.
