A meeting of the Canterbury Hockey Referees' Association was held last evening. Ten mem hers were present, .and Mr R. H. Saunders presided. Messrs G. W. Ford. S. Envpson, J. Sharmail and L. Duckworth were elected members of the Association.

Tlie Auckland Hockey Referees' Association wrote, again, urging that, in view of the number of interprovincial matches being played, a conference of referees should be held so as to bring rulings into line. Mr T. Smith, said that lie did not think that any good conk! result from such a conference. There were some points on which the referees Would not agree, and if a delegate was appointed to go to a conference he would not be able To state fairly the views of the other members of the Association. Tho rules were fairly clear, but there wero points on which it was impossible to assure Agreement.

Mr G. E. Good expressed agreement P/ith what Mr Smith had said.

'lt was resolved that the Association did not think a conference necessary. A conference was then held between tho Association and a number of delegates from the various clubs, to consider questions of interpretation of the rules, especially in connection with Eomo recent amendments.
